The plant has the capacity to press 30,000 discs per month

A new pressing plant “for independent stamps” is opened in Germany.

In order to support independent and community labels, a new pressing plant, Matter of Fact, has been opened in the north-east of Germany.

After two years of development, the pressing plant is now officially operational with three pressing machines that can press up to 30,000 discs per month, as well as a carbon neutral transport system and FSC-certified sleeves.

Created by a group of “DJs, producers, collectors and geeks”, Matter of Fact will not only produce standard 12″ vinyls, but also two-color vinyls, patterned vinyls and even handmade wooden boxes for shipping.

“If a small label has a bombshell or a hit and wants to release it, they have to schedule it in 8-12 months. It’s an extreme situation. Only the big labels can plan years in advance,” Matter of Fact co-founder Andrew Kroenert told DJ Mag.

He added that the new pressing plant will not work for the big labels, since its objective is to help “the underground, the small and the indies who have kept the flag all these years.”

On its website, Matter of Fact stated that its focus would be “quality, fast production and high customer satisfaction”.

“We develop solutions for every desire: nothing is impossible. As every detail is important to us, we keep our customers informed in every production process.”

Matter of Fact claims that prices are “within a very normal range” when shipping from the UK and the rest of Europe.

In an investigation conducted by Mixmag last year, many small label owners highlighted the importance of vinyl plants that cater to “small print runs”. Currently, the global vinyl production capacity is about 160 million per year, despite the fact that the demand is around 300-400 million.
