A business report was presented at the Ibiza International Music Summit (IMS), from that it follows: tech house has overtaken techno in sales, which has long held the championship and was the most popular genre of electronic music. Source of statistics: Beatport.
Tech House has been in second place for the last two years, eventually taking the top spot at the end of 2021. Techno dropped to second place, house — as before — in third.

Other interesting data from the report:
• The number of clubs and festivals has increased. The industry is in the beginning of recovering after the coronavirus, but the pre-pandemic indicators have not yet been achieved.
• In 2020, the dance industry was estimated at $ 3.4 billion, in 2021 – already at $ 6 billion. The peak was marked in 2016 with $7.4 billion.
• The rapid growth of the musical genre of amapiano (amapiano, “piano” from the Zulu language) has been recorded. This is a hybrid of deep house, jazz and lounge music, which appeared in South Africa in the early 2010s.
• Once again, the success of vinyl was noted: sales growth in 2021 amounted to 51%.
