The Berlin club will also release a limited edition on triple vinyl

The most appreciated Berlin club on the banks of the River Spree, Watergate, celebrates its 20th anniversary next October with a series of special events.

New and well-known names will gather at Watergate to celebrate its 20th anniversary, with performances such as those of Maceo Plex, Solomun or Richie Hawtin, among other parties that will take place in the months leading up to October.

Charlotte de Witte and Laurent Garnier, who have already paid tribute to the iconic club before the big October celebrations, took to the stage at the beginning of August to perform at the club on the banks of the Spree.

Watergate has also partnered with festivals all over Europe, such as EXIT, ADE and Tomorrowland, to organize a series of shows by the club’s residents under the slogan “Watergate: 20 years”.

“From the very beginning, we felt the magic that this place by the river gives off, especially in the morning hours,” says Watergate co-founder Ulrich Wombacher, recalling the early days of the club.

“Our club cannot be reproduced digitally. It’s a place that brings people together. A place of warmth and closeness. A kind of shelter, protected at night and early mornings. It doesn’t work virtually.”

Watergate first opened its doors in 2002 in an old office building and, in its beginnings, hosted a mix of sounds such as reggae, drum ‘n’ bass and hip-hop. Today, Watergate is recognized for its considerable contribution to the house and techno scene.

In October, Watergate will partner with fashion brand Irie Daily to launch a series of club-style clothing items, such as tracksuits, sweatshirts and T-shirts.

In November, Watergate will also celebrate its 20th anniversary with a compilation released on limited edition triple vinyl. With 20 exclusive tracks, the compilation will feature artists such as Solomun, JAMIIE and Adana Twins.
